DRAGON'S LAIR ENHANCEMENT ROM SET VERSION 2.1 - January 1, 2005

This ROM set has been created to enhance the gameplay of Cinematronics' 1983 arcade version of Dragon's Lair. Logical reconstruction to game organization and presentation has been implemented, and the result is what is believed to be the first and only Dragon's Lair game program that plays the game the way it was intended to be played while it was being designed/animated. These ROMs also optionally access the prototype animation newly recorded at the end of the Dragon's Lair Limited Edition Laserdisc that was pressed in 2002. Once again, this is optional. The new disc is NOT required for DLE 2.1.
DLE 2.1 is a 3 EPROM set that works with any working Cinematronics Dragon's Lair game using any laserdisc player. The creation of different ROM sets optimized for different laserdisc players was not necessary. Dragon's Lair uses type 2764 EPROMs or compatible.
DLE version 2.1 replaced DLE 2.0 by compressing the software to fit onto 3 EPROMs instead of 4, and by allowing the diagnostics ROM check to pass if other game EPROMs remain in the unused sockets, and by correcting a bug with one of the death scenes.
The 2.x series of DLE software resequences the game. The scenes have been segregated into dedicated sections of the castle. Reversible scenes only need to be completed once during one game. The DLE 2.x scene sequencing chart provides a thorough explanation.
The prototype DIP switch setting allows owners of the limited edition disc to access and play over 8 minutes of cutting room floor animation, with the experimental design concepts of multiple branching and the "ACTION" button that were present in the prototype Dragon's Lair arcade game.
Note: DLE 2.1 functions with the original Dragon's Lair laserdisc in standard game mode. The limited edition disc is NOT required.
These ROMs contain radical functional changes that require the instructions in the readme21.txt file found in the download.
This complete text file, or a printout of it, MUST accompany all distribution of DLE.
